You won't be handed between a salesperson, a designer and a workshop. You'll work with one person from the first message to the day the ring is ready.

We talk about your partner, your style, your budget and your timeline. Bring screenshots, sketches, or just a feeling.

Stone shortlist

We search and screen stones for you, then send a short list of the best options with their IGI or GIA certificates, videos and an honest note on each.

3D design

Your ring is built in 3D CAD, so you can see it from every angle before anything is made. We refine the profile, the prongs and how it sits beside a wedding band until it's right.

Crafted

We match your design with the right maker from a trusted network, whether that's a specialist setter or a platinum smith, and oversee every stage.

Delivery

You receive your ring with its IGI or GIA certificate, an insurance appraisal and care guidance, ready for the moment you've been planning.

Choosing the stone

Diamond shopping is overwhelming.
Choosing yours shouldn't be.

Thousands of diamonds look perfect on paper. You'll only see the ones that are. A grading report tells you colour, clarity and carat. It doesn't tell you whether a stone actually sparkles.

Lab-grown

Chemically identical to mined diamonds, with far more size for your budget. We work with IGI-certified CVD and HPHT stones.

Natural

Formed over billions of years and more scarce. We'll source them for you and walk you through what you're paying for.

Every stone is checked against the same standard before it reaches your shortlist.

Certificate review

IGI or GIA grading report checked line by line, including the plot and comments.

Proportions

Depth, table and length-to-width ratio measured against shape-specific targets.

Bow-tie screening

For ovals, pears and marquises, the dark band across the centre is assessed from the stone's video and images.

Each option comes with a plain-language note, including the reasons we'd pass on it.

Our story

Three generations
of making.

CHÂU is a women-founded family business, carried through three generations in Toronto. We grew up around jewellery, learning how gold is weighed and how a stone should sit in its setting by watching the women before us work.

The name comes from our grandmother. Today, CHÂU carries that family craft forward without a showroom or sales floor, so your budget goes into your ring, not our rent. You work with one person from start to finish, one ring at a time, with three generations of experience and a trusted network of makers behind every piece.

How long does a custom ring take?

It depends on the design and the stone, so tell us your date when you reach out and we'll plan backwards from it. Starting earlier gives you more stone options and more time to refine the design.

What's the minimum budget?

Custom engagement rings start from $2,500 CAD. Share the range you're comfortable with and we'll tell you honestly what's possible. We'll show you where the budget can move, whether that's toward a larger stone, a more detailed setting or a different metal.

Lab-grown or natural?

Both are real diamonds. Lab-grown gives you more size and quality for your budget. Natural stones are rarer and tend to hold value better. We're glad to show you both side by side.

I don't know their ring size.

That's very common. We can suggest discreet ways to find out, and we can plan the design so it's easy to resize after the proposal.

Who actually makes the ring?

Different designs need different hands. A delicate pavé band, a platinum setting and personalized details may each go to a different specialist. We choose the maker for your design from a network built over three generations, and oversee the work from 3D design to final polish.

Do you have a showroom?

No, and that works in your favour. We work virtually, so stone videos, certificates, 3D renders and quotes come straight to you. You can design your ring from home, on your own schedule, without taking time off for store visits. When you'd like to meet in person, we're available by appointment.

What comes with my ring?

Every ring comes with its IGI or GIA certificate, an insurance appraisal and care guidance. A personalized ring box is available as an add-on, if you'd like the presentation to match the ring.

Can you work from a ring I found online?

Yes. Send photos of anything you love and we'll design something inspired by it that's entirely your own, and show you how the price compares.
